BMW Check Engine Light
Your check engine light was created for a reason. Never ignore it! Neglected check engine lights (CEL) can lead to costly repairs. Your BMW CEL is letting you know there is an error in your vehicle’s system. There are many reasons your check engine light might be on, some of them are serious, others are smaller issues.
Some of the issues that can trigger your BMW check engine light are:
- Bad O2 sensor
- Faulty airflow sensor
- Loose gas cap
- Blown gasket heads
- Faulty ignition coils
- Cracked or loose hoses
- Electrical or fuel problems in the engine
- Faulty fuel injector
- Worn out spark plugs
- Emission system malfunction
What should I do when my Check Engine Light Comes on?
When you notice your check engine light on you should take your BMW to a qualified BMW specialist for diagnostic testing. Make sure the BMW repair shop is properly equipped with BMW specific diagnostic equipment like BMW ISTA/D and BMW ISTA/P Software.
How will my BMW Mechanic diagnose my Check Engine Light?
Your BMW mechanic specialist will connect your BMW to a specific diagnostic scan tool. This tool will identify trouble codes and reveal the cause of the check engine light. After that, your BMW expert will provide you with a summary and advice on how to fix the problem.
